Totally TOT Shabbat

First Shabbat of every month!

Tot Shabbat is every Shabbat at 10:30am.
Children ages 0-Kindergarten explore the weekly Torah portion through various mediums while having fun with their friends! Activities include drama, edible crafts, storytime, experiential prayers with song and dance, projects, and more!
TOTally Tot Shabbat includes special themed programming during Tot Shabbat.

Bar/Bat Mitzvah Year-Long Experience

In-depth analysis of a topic from the weekly Torah portion and Shabbat prayer services. Intended to assist in preparation for B'nei Mitzvah and beyond.

Parent-Child Learning
We are very excited about our new middle school programming for the 2019-2020 school year.  Our program, The Year Long Bar/Bat Mitzvah Experience, is intended to provide our children with meaningful opportunities to help them develop into adults who contribute to the Jewish community. Through social events, community service projects, and Parent Child Learning offerings, Middle Schoolers (5th-8th grade) will have the opportunity to connect more deeply with their Jewish identity and their Jewish peers, engage in Jewish text study, and learn what it means to give back to the community all while having a great time with friends!

Dor Tikvah's Youth Library

1st-4th graders are welcome to sit in our amazing reading center, pick a book to read, and can also borrow one of our age appropriate Jewish children books!
The books can be checked out during the Shabbat groups time (Every Shabbat, 10:00-12:00 am) and returned up to 3 weeks later.

In order to check out books, children need to have a Dor Tikvah library card. If we do not have your child on record, please fill in our library card application and the card will be ready as soon as possible!

Tot-Shabbat songs and CD

Bring in to your home the spirit of Dor Tikvah's Tot Shabbat! 

Every Shabbat our Tot-Shabbat group (ages 0-5) sings, dances and has lot's of fun during our age appropriate introduction to Tefillah, prayers. If you want to bring in to your home some of the special spirit of Tot-Shabbat, here are a few ways to purchase Carmiya Weinraub's CD "Tot Shabbat songs", that has many of the songs we sing in Dor Tikvah!
1. Listen to the songs or purchase online 
2. Buy from Dor Tikvah and donate to Dor Tikvah's youth! Go to the donation page, and in the "Type" tab pick "Tot Shabbat CD". Don't forget after paying online to pick up the CD from the Dor Tikvah front desk during our weekdays services or Dinning In Challah pickup hours.
3. Buy the CD from the Dor Tikvah front desk during our weekdays services or Dinning In Challah pickup hours (please bring exact amount of $15 or check). Want to come prepared for Tot-Shabbat and know the words of the songs before you come? Click here to print the words for the songs we sing in

Middle School Parent-Child Learning 11/17/19


As part of our Year Long Bar/Bat Mitzvah Experience, 5th - 8th grade children enjoyed services, breakfast, and a Parent Child Learning session.

Upcoming parent child learning programs will be on January 12th and March 15th.

Holla 4 Challah 9/15/19


Charleston PJ Library and PJ Our Way partnered with us for our annual Holla 4 Challah event! It was an awesomely messy and delicious morning! We made Challah, Rosh Hashannah crafts for both our families and local seniors in need.


Glow in the Dark Dodgeball 12/1/18


We lit up the night at our third annual Glow in the Dark Dodgeball! Our first through eighth graders enjoyed doughnut decorating, candle making, and of course Dodgeball!


Teen summer celebration 5/28/17

It's time to say goodbye... 

TYLT and group leaders got together for a meal by the Hirsch's to celebrate the end of the school year. After an amazing lunch, the group leaders went to work on their teamwork under pressure at "Escape in 60" and see if they can escape before the doomed ship ends up in Davy Jones' Locker... And just almost escaped on time!


J-Serve day of service 4/2/17 

Dor Tikvah TYLT program joined Jewish teens from the Charleston area for a day of service, organized by BBYO,Charleston Jewish Federation and Dor Tikvah TYLT!

Project: We prepared 60 "Bottles of Smiles" for children at the MUSC children’s hospital. These bottles provide joy and happiness to hospital bound children as well as their siblings. The bottles were assembled at the Federation, and then we delivered them to MUSC for the kids.

Purim Mishloach Manot Packing 3/12/17

During the Congregational Purim breakfast, Dor Tikvah youth joined a special intergenerational Mishloach Manot program. We made baskets for special persons in our congregation, and also for the children to give their friends. Thank you to all the families that helped us send out the Mishlochei Manot to all of our special recipients!
